LatinSafe Bulletin July 2026

The July 2026 edition of the LatinSafe Bulletin is published, featuring the intertwined stories “The Eyes of Felix” and “Time Travelers at Large.” This issue follows Felix, a young doctor with extraordinary vision who leaves his family and homeland to pursue his dream of becoming a radiologist, while also recounting Dr. Mon Ica’s imaginative travels through the past, present, and future of computed tomography.

Through storytelling, the bulletin traces the evolution of CT from early head scanners and helical CT to multidetector systems, automatic exposure control, iterative reconstruction, and a possible future of autonomous, low-dose, multienergy imaging. It emphasizes that technological progress must remain grounded in appropriate protocol selection, patient centering, image-quality optimization, radiation-dose management, and informed human oversight.

The issue also features “Shivu’s Brownie—The Time Traveling Bear,” an original painting by Shivangi Jha, MD, MPH. The artwork connects rising global temperatures and environmental responsibility with LatinSafe’s continuing commitment to radiation safety.
